Doubting Thomas

Second encounter : Jesus meets doubting Thomas according to St. John's Gospel chapter 20, verses 24-28.

Thomas said : "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe".

Jesus said to Thomas : "Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe".

Thomas answered : "My Lord and my God!"

Jesus said to him : "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed." image de Thomas l'incrédule

Thomas with his doubts, his disbelief, his need for proof, to touch, to verify. And me and my doubts, my incredulity, my need for proof, to verify, to test and even to haggle with God. When will I stop being incredulous with God and become a true believer? When will I give witness that Jesus is truly alive for me and that he is present in the assembly of believers in the Church?

PRAYER : Christ Jesus, save me, you who shed your blood for the salvation of the world and who offer your salvation to each and everyone of us demanding only our faith, the conversion of our hearts and our good will. Christ Jesus, save me by freeing my heart and my spirit from all that oppresses it because of the weight of my sins, of my incredulity, of my doubts, of the drying effect of my selfishness.

Christ Jesus, truly alive, save me by reconciling me from my very depts with you and the Father in the Holy Spirit. I love you, for ... You are truly alive.
